On November 27, 2020, the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers (British Columbia) Society (“FACL BC”) hosted its 9th Annual Gala and inaugural Virtual Conference over Zoom. Chairing FACL BC’s Gala Committee was our very own Karen Chow.

 The theme of the conference was “Enacting Change: Your Seat At the Table” (faclbc.ca/gala). The program included a speech on the importance of judicial diversity by Arif Virani, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, and keynotes by the Honourable Justice Shirzad S. Ahmed of the Federal Court of Canada, and Raji Mangat, Executive Director of West Coast Leaf.

 The event had a record-breaking attendance with people joining in for the first time from as far as Europe and Hong Kong.

 Congratulations to Karen and her team, and FACL BC for a successful event. COVID-19 has really changed the way that we connect with one another. It’s wonderful to see people building and strengthening relationships virtually while staying safe.
